Even though it felt like a slow week we were able to complete a few major items from our lengthy to-do list. The damn dam was re-installed this week and the plumber moved the drain and installed the new flange. The hot moppers came out and made the slope and water proofed the floor so the shower is almost ready for tile. The new shower fixtures finally came so we are just waiting for the plumber to come back out to move the last of the plumbing in the shower and to install the mixer. The drywallers finished sanding down the drywall and the fabricators came out and templated for the counter and the floor.
Its now one big waiting game. We are still waiting for the shower wall tile to arrive (hopefully that will come VERY soon) so the tile guys can start installing the tile. Unfortunately, this week we found out that the marble wont be installed until November 12th which isn't ideal. We were hoping to have this project completely wrapped up by the 6th of November because we are taking a much needed week of vacation on the 7th. This was scheduled long before I decided to enter the challenge and we are about to enter my husband's busy season at work- so we are going. Thankfully the ORC gives us 10 extra days at the end so it will be a mad dash to the finish line.
One thing we haven't talked about yet but that is incredibly important is the evolution of a design. If you've been keeping up with where this project started you know that it initially began with black and white graphic floor tiles and has since evolved into a full marble slab floor. Originally I had my heart set on a really dark almost black green by Farrow and Ball called Studio Green for the wall color. But since I changed the floor and completely re-did the design now the dark green color wont work and deciding on a wall color has been a tough decision ever since. I narrowed it down to two Portola Paints colors and actually bought one of them. I bought the color Granite because my husband loved it and it went with the marble really well - plus would still give us that moody bathroom that I had originally dreamed of. But after making a larger sample, I just don't think I love it and I don't think it goes with the overall theme of our home. I ordered a few other colors that should come this week so we will see what happens. I really wanted this bathroom to be an experience and to be different from the rest of our home but I am honestly leaning towards keeping it a little more classic than I had originally anticipated. So stay tuned because it's for sure going to be a paint saga.
